Paper stars are a quick and easy decoration. Try hanging a few from a ceiling to liven up a room for a party or decorate with glitter to make fast holiday ornaments. Paper stars can even be a fun way to make your own personal stationary or spice up a scrapbook page. With just a few folds, you can turn a regular piece of printer paper into a five-pointed star. Here’s how:

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Fold the paper in half horizontally.

  2. Step 2

Turn the paper so that the shorter sides make the top and bottom. Mark a halfway point in the middle of the bottom side.

  3. Step 3

Fold the top left corner down to meet the mark you made in the bottom middle of the paper. Make a clean crease.

  4. Step 4

Fold the “triangle” on the bottom-left back across the previous fold to make a point in the new top-left corner. Make a clean crease.

  5. Step 5

Turn the point upwards and fold in half vertically. The new crease should face you like the spine of a book.

  6. Step 6

With the sharp point facing downwards, cut downwards at an approximate 30-degree angle from the left most point.

  7. Step 7

Throw away the top part and unfold the bottom into a perfect five-point star!

Tips & Warnings
  • Cutting at a more extreme downward angle will make for longer points on the star.
  • Any type of paper can be used to make these stars. Try origami or scrapbooking paper for a different style.
