How to Change a PC’s Wallpaper in Windows XP
The wallpaper on your Windows XP computer is one way to show your individuality when you’re one out of a million cubicles. You can change the background to one of the eye-catching displays your computer comes with, or you can set it with one of your own personal photos. You can even choose a design that matches your home décor so your PC doesn’t seem out of place.

Click the “Start” button in the bottom, left-hand corner.

Double-click “Control Panel.”

Double-click “Display.”

Click the “Desktop” tab.

Select a background you wish to have as your wallpaper.

If you want to use one of your personal photos, click the “Browse” button.

Locate the file you wish you use and click “Open.”

Use the drop-down menu to select to have your photo “Tiled” (the photo repeated multiple times across the screen), “Stretched” (just what it sounds like—the photo stretched across the screen) or “Center” (the photo retains its original size and is displayed in the center of the wallpaper).

Click “OK.”

Selecting “Stretch” can severely distort the look of the photo.
