Since babies outgrow their clothing so fast, if your baby’s closet isn’t kept up-to-date, you may miss out on the opportunity to dress him in all his outfits and you might even become unfamiliar with the clothing options your child has. Keeping your baby’s closet up-to-date is easy if you keep the closet organized and continue to weed through clothing as your baby grows. To keep your baby’s closet current, follow these steps.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Organize your baby's closet. Divide your baby's clothing by size. Within each size, divide your baby's outfits into types. Group long sleeved shirts and long sleeved pants together; one-piece outfits together; short sleeved and short pant outfits together; and dresses or dress clothing together.

  2. Step 2

Purchase or make size dividers for your closet. You can purchase labeled dividers that hang on the closet railing or make your own dividers by writing the size on a piece of paper and hanging the paper on a coat hanger.

  3. Step 3

Place empty bins or baskets at the bottom of your baby's closet. When your child outgrows clothing and when the clothing that fits is no longer appropriate for the season, place clothing in the bins. Pulling out items that your child outgrows or can't wear will help to keep the closet current.

  4. Step 4

Every 6 months, take the clothing that have found their way into the bin and store them for future use. Plastic bins with covers make for great clothing storage.

  5. Step 5

When you purchase new clothing or after you wash clothing, hang the items in the appropriate area of your child's closet so that you can easily find them.

Tips & Warnings
  • Using the same sized hangers throughout the closet will make it look neater.
  • Only keep clothing in the closet that your child can currently wear. Store off-season clothing and clothing purchased for future use in drawers.
  • Babies outgrow their clothing quickly, so be sure to keep on top of weeding out your baby's clothes.
