Although the name of the city might be misleading to many, Kansas City is actually located in the state of Missouri, and not Kansas (although it is in very close proximity to Kansas itself). It is largest city in the entire state of Missouri, surpassing St. Louis. Kansas City is well-known for various things, including jazz, blues music, and barbecue. However, that's not all that the city has to offer. For those planning on visiting Kansas City in the future, here are some of the city's best tourist spots.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Visit the Arabia Steamboat Museum. This museum is named after the steamer Arabia, which was a steamboat that disappeared in 1856 and resurfaced again a whopping 132 years later with all of its valuable cargo still, amazingly so, perfectly intact. What was discovered inside the Steamer include clothes, medicine, guns, bottled fruit, jewelry, perfume, and more.

  2. Step 2

Check out the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. This is a serene and tranquil museum that offers a vast selection of East Asian artworks as well as a beautiful sculpture garden. However, East Asian art is not all the museum has to offer. Whether you'd like to look at Egyptian sculpture or American paintings, you can find it all here.

  3. Step 3

Go to the Save a Connie Airline Museum. This quirky and unique museum is ideal of airport and airline enthusiasts. Visitors can feel like they stepped into a time machine when they witness propeller machines here. There is a wonderful and unusual collection of aviation artifacts here.

  4. Step 4

Stroll through the Ozarks State Park. This is a naturally beautiful, relaxing and sprawling place to spend the day. It is a very popular area for recreation for people living in the area. One of the most popular sections of the state park is Osage Beach, which is an ideal place to bask in the sunshine or go for a swim.

  5. Step 5

Go to Cave Spring. This is a large 36-acre place to witness both history and natural beauty. This area used to be a part of the legendary Santa Fe Trail. This is an educational and fascinating place to learn about the environment as well as the history and culture of Kansas City.

Tips & Warnings
  • Kansas City has a large Irish population of upwards of 250,000. Be sure to keep your eye out for Celtic culture here, including the many pubs.
