How to Create Bookmarks Using Pagemaker
Bookmarks can be easily created using Adobe Pagemaker software and inexpensive cardstock. Distributing paper bookmarks is an effective way to spread your message when you need to reach large numbers of people and don’t have an equally large budget. The design of your bookmark is limited only by your creativity. Bookmarks can be designed and produced in a short period of time, and can be changed whenever you have a new sale or event to promote.

1
Click the Pagemaker icon on the desktop and select “File” and “New” to bring up a new document. The document setup box will pop up. Choose the appropriate size for your page under “Dimensions.” The first measurement you see will determine the width of your page and the second measurement will determine the length. Use a traditional 8 ½-by-11 inch page.

2
Drag guidelines from the left and top margins to create six identically sized boxes, three on top and three on the bottom. If you would like to create narrower bookmarks, you can place four boxes on the top row and four boxes on the bottom row. You will place the same information in each box and create identical copies of the same bookmark.

Type your copy into the first box. Include the name of the company, the address, telephone number, website and any additional information about the company. Choose different fonts for the body and heading to make the heading stand out.

4
Place graphics and logos on the bookmark if desired. You won’t have much room to place graphics, so if you do use one, make sure it is easy to recognize at a small size. Choose a graphic that contains one easily recognizable item.
-
5
Use the Copy feature to place identical information in each bookmark box. Click on the “Edit” button, then “Select all.” Click on “Edit” again, followed by “Copy” to make a copy of the first bookmark. To place the copied information, click on “Edit” and “Paste.” The copied information will be placed over the first bookmark. Simply move the copied information to the second bookmark box. Repeat until you have filled each box with the same information.

6
Print a rough copy of your bookmark sheet and proofread it. Make sure you have allowed enough space between bookmarks for cutting. Ask someone else to take a look at the bookmarks before you do a final printing.
