1
Measure the first length of wallpaper you need and add three inches to this amount. Measure it again to be sure you’ve gotten the length right and mark the cutting line. Now smoothly cut this first piece from the roll, without any tag ends or jagged edges.
-
2
Trim the extra wallpaper where the ceiling meets the wall and at the baseboard with the trimming knife once the wallpaper has dried completely.

3
Unroll a little more of the wallpaper and shift it before you cut the next section to match the previous strip's pattern. Your best bet to have the wallpaper match perfectly is to lay the dry wallpaper flat on the floor as you cut each strip and make adjustments for matching then.

4
Begin wallpapering in one corner of the room, preferably behind the room’s door. This way, it will be easier to hide mistakes while learning how to handle the wallpaper.
-
5
Overlap slightly each strip of wallpaper with the next strip as you put it up on the wall. Smooth each strip with the wide brush, making sure you brush out any wrinkles or bubbles completely.

Tips & Warnings
Have your ladder already in place before you get the next piece of wallpaper wet in the wetting tray. Some wallpaper dries quickly, so you have to work fast to get it onto the wall before the glue is hardened again.
Use strippable wallpaper so you can put up new wallpaper or even paint the walls the next time you change your decorating scheme.
