Until the release of the Mighty Mouse, Apple's standard mice were one-click devices with few features. The Mighty Mouse changed that approach with its scroll ball, side buttons and right-click functionality. The Mighty Mouse is a useful piece of computer hardware out of the box, but it can also be customized to suit the needs of an individual user.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Mac running OS X 10.4 or later
  1. Step 1

Open "System Preferences" by clicking on the dock icon.

  2. Step 2

Go to the "Keyboard & Mouse" control panel under the "Hardware" category.

  3. Step 3

Click on the "Mouse" tab in the top of the control panel window.

  4. Step 4

Use the four drop-down menus to assign actions to the Mighty Mouse's buttons. Actions can be assigned to the left main button, the right main button, the side buttons and the scroll ball.

  5. Step 5

To enable right-click functionality like a PC mouse, set the left main button as "Primary Button" and the right main button as "Secondary Button." For left-handed users, these settings can be reversed to make using the Mighty Mouse more natural.
