Dungeon Dice is a board game in which your goal is to escape from prison. Players are innocent people held captive in a deep, dark dungeon. The idea is to find a way out before your opponents do--and to avoid getting caught and being trapped forever. Can you meet the challenge?

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Setting Up and Playing Dungeon Dice

  1. Step 1

Set up the game. Put the gray “Dungeon Pit” into the opening of the game board. Set the Tunnel cards in a pile to the side. Each player now selects a Prisoner card and places it on the “Start” space in front of him. Choose the starting player. After the first person finishes his turn, game play will continue in a counterclockwise direction.

  2. Step 2

Start the game. To begin a turn, roll six dice into the dungeon pit. Place all matching dice in any corner on top of the pit wall. Depending on the number of matching dice, you can pick up Tunnel cards. Starting with a match of three “tool” dice, you can pick up one card. After three, the number of tunnel cards increases by one with any higher number of matches (for a maximum number of four cards). If you have six different symbols in your roll, you can pick up three cards. You can also pick up one card if you have three different pairs of dice.

  3. Step 3

Look at your resulting matching dice. Watch out for guards! If you roll a pair of guard dice, you have to place them on the pit wall, along with any other matches. You will also have to continue your turn until all six dice are on the wall or you have three guards on the wall. Three guards means trouble. You lose any Tunnel cards earned during this turn and an additional Tunnel card you may have placed on a previous turn (if applicable).

  4. Step 4

Continue or end your turn. If you have one or more Tunnel cards (and no pairs of guards are present), you can place them on the board to start creating your escape path. Move your prison card the number of Tunnel cards earned and end your turn. Otherwise, continue your turn by rolling the dice that are not on top of the pit wall. (However, by rolling the dice again, you will lose any currently obtained Tunnel cards from the previous roll if you do not place at least one matching “tool” die on the wall on your next roll.) If you have a successful new roll, place any new matches or additions to other “tool” dice on the pit wall and take any Tunnel cards earned.

  5. Step 5

Win the game. The first player to place all eight Tunnel cards on her escape path, which moves her prison card out of the dungeon, wins.

Tips & Warnings
  • Instead of accumulating Tunnel cards during your turn, you can choose to challenge your opponent. This may be useful if another player is ahead of you and is close to winning the game. To challenge, you will need to obtain three guards during your turn. You have three rolls to accomplish this. If successful, you can remove one of your opponent’s Tunnel cards from his escape path and add it to your own path.
