Palm reading is one of many forms of fortune telling, much like crystal balls and tarot cards, that has been performed for hundreds of years, both as something that people believe and as a game that people play. A palm reader is someone who reads your life by the lines on your hand. You do not have to visit a fortune teller to get the effect; you can read your own fortune by reading your palm.

From Quick Guide: Palm Reading 101
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Choose the palm. Many believe you must read the left hand of women and the right hand of men, others believe you read the dominant hand, and others think either will do. Choosing which palm to use is up to you, but using the left hand for women and the right hand for men is more common than the other variations. You may find that as you read your palm you defer to one hand over the other.

  2. Step 2

Find the life line on the hand. The life line is found just above your thumb and generally extends down towards your wrist. The life line on your palm describes what kind of life you will live. If the line is long then you will have a long and healthy life. A shorter life line that does not seem to be etched very deep into your hand does not necessarily mean you will have a short life, but instead suggests that you allow others to tell you what to do.

  3. Step 3

Look above the life line to find the head line on your palm. The head line explains the way that you think. A line that is straight describes a person who thinks more logically than a person whose head line is curved. The more curved a head line is, the more creatively a person thinks. A head line that is far apart from your life line indicates more luck in your life than a head line and a life line that are close together.

  4. Step 4

Identify the heart line above the head line and below your fingers. The heart line is generally a horizontal line across the palm. As its name implies, the heart line deals with matters of the heart, emotions and love. A long line suggests a person who is more romantic than a person whose heart line is short.

  5. Step 5

Look beside the life line for a vertical line called the fate line. The fate line describes how much fate will be a factor in your life. If your fate line is long and etched deeply into your palm then fate will have a big impact on your life, while a shallow line fate indicates it will not be a big part of your life.
