The thesaurus feature in FrontPage 2000 allows you to replace words in your documents with a better or more sophisticated word. The thesaurus can even be used to replace words that you use often. Using the thesaurus can make your documents appear more professional. It is a great way to save time instead of browsing through a manual thesaurus. Using the thesaurus that is included in FrontPage is fairly easy. This guide will provide you with simple steps in using the thesaurus to replace words in your program.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Access the FrontPage program. Open the FrontPage document or web page for which you will be using the thesaurus. Choose the word that you want to replace by highlighting it.

  2. Step 2

Click on the menu bar and choose, "Tools," then "Thesaurus." If you do not see the "Thesaurus" option, click the down arrows to expand the menu to show all options. This action opens the thesaurus dialog box. The dialog box displays a list of options to replace the word that you have highlighted. Choose the word that is the best replacement for your word. Under "Meaning," the dialog box displays a definition of the word. Click "Cancel" if the thesaurus does not display a word that is a good fit for you.

  3. Step 3

Choose the word under "Replace with synonym" that you want. Click the "replace" button on the right-hand side. The word in your FrontPage document or web page is replaced with the word from the thesaurus.

  4. Step 4

Verify that the word has been properly replaced in the document.
