The fall season is the perfect time for a block party. Themed parties are a lot of fun. Fall is the peak of the NASCAR season, as the final twelve drivers gear up for the final sprint to the Championship.

From Quick Guide: Throw a Great Block Party
Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • *List of your neighbors
  • *List of the NASCAR drivers
  • *Permit
  • *Large area
  1. Step 1

Hold a neighborhood meeting to make arrangements. Complete the necessary paperwork for any permits required by the city. Or make a reservation with the Parks Department, if the party will take place at a local park. Decide who will be in charge of decorations and entertainment.

  2. Step 2

Consider having everyone contribute five to ten dollars toward trash bags and other expenses.

  3. Step 3

Get a current list of NASCAR drivers. Put the names in a bowl and have each person draw a name from the bowl. This will eliminate fighting over who is assigned to which driver. Each house will be responsible for bringing an item to promote his driver.

  4. Step 4

Decide on the food. Have each person draw a slip of paper with entree, salad, dessert, and beverage written on the paper. Have each household draw from the hat to choose the foods they will need to bring.

  5. Step 5

Have each family wear the selected driver's colors or bring something from their drivers' sponsor. Color it up.

  6. Step 6

Choose a time that corresponds with one of the races. The Saturday night races are becoming very popular and is the perfect time for a NASCAR block party. If the party is held at someone's house, a big screen tv can be set up in the garage so that everyone outside can see it. If that isn't an option, you can always set up a stereo so that everyone will at least be able to hear the race.

  7. Step 7

Delegate cleaning duties. Again, have someone from each household choose a chore, such as picking up trash or sweeping the pavement.

  8. Step 8

Depending on whether the people in your neighborhood like to gamble or not, you can always set up a racing pool. Check your city and state's regulations on gambling, you don't want to violate any ordinances.

  9. Step 9

Decide whether or not you want to have alcohol. It is a NASCAR party and some people will want beer. You will have to check city regulations concerning alcoholic beverages. This will be a very important detail if you choose to have the party at a public park. You may also need a permit.

Tips & Warnings
  • *Encourage everyone to attend.
  • *Have games and prizes.
  • *HAVE FUN!
  • *Delegate duties. One person should not be responsible for everything.
