Things You'll Need:
- 2 Cups Granulated White Sugar
- 1/2 Cup Lemon Juice
- 1/2 Cup Water
- Large Cooking Pot
- Wooden Spoon
- Glass Jar and Lid
-
Step 1
Combine 2 cups granulated white sugar, 1/2 cup lemon juice and 1/2 cup water in a large cooking pot. A tall cooking pot works best because it prevents the sugar mixture from splattering out of the pot when cooking.
-
Step 2
Place cooking pot filled with sugar mixture on the stove and cook over high heat. Stir constantly with a wooden spoon.
-
Step 3
Turn down the heat on the stove when the sugar mixture starts to boil. Continue to stir sugar mixture constantly.
-
Step 4
Allow sugar mixture to simmer while stirring constantly until the sugar fully melts and the mixture turns a light golden brown. Once the sugar is melted and the mixture is a light golden brown, remove the cooking pot from the hot burner and let cool.
-
Step 5
Allow the sugar mixture to sit until it is cool enough to touch.
-
Step 6
Pick up cooled sugar mixture and shape it into a ball. Stretch and pull the mixture until it is a even golden color throughout.
-
Step 7
Shape sugar mixture into a ball and place in a glass jar. Place a lid on the glass jar to store for later use. Sugar mixture can be warmed up at a later time, by placing the jar in hot water.
