How to Be a Great Maid of Honor
Certain traditional responsibilities fall to the maid of honor, such as helping the bride get dressed on her wedding day and planing the bridal shower. While these are big responsibilities, a great maid of honor performs tasks that go above and beyond the call of duty. Here are some ways to help your friend prepare for the wedding day and be a great maid of honor.

1
Find ways that the couple can save money on the wedding. Ask people you know where to get discounts on flowers, the cake, a band or a reception venue. Also think about inexpensive centerpiece ideas that look beautiful but can easily be assembled. A wedding costs a great deal as it is. Anything you do to help them save money should be appreciated.

2
Be there to listen and offer sound advice. Listening to wedding plans and details day after day may start to feel tedious, but don’t give up on your friend. If the bride asks for advice or you have a useful tip to offer, step up and say your piece.

Address and send out the invitations. As big of a task as this is, consider how big of a task it would be for the bride and groom to do with everything else on their plate. Addressing and mailing the invitations could lift a huge weight off their shoulders. Do a little each day to complete the task by a reasonable date.

Pay for the bride’s hair and makeup to be done. This is a special gift she will appreciate. Usually the bride pays for it, so it will help to alleviate one of the smaller, but still significant, expenses.

5
Take the bride-to-be out often in the time leading up to the wedding. In the months before the big day, your friend will have many days when she feels scattered, stressed and overtired. Take her out for some relaxation time, whether to get a pedicure or see a movie, so she can temporarily take her mind off the crazy world of wedding planning.
