Paintball is a fast-paced, exciting sport that combines the concept of tag with a safe version of live combat. Compressed gas is used to propel the paintballs out of the gun barrels and downfield. Two main types of compressed gas systems are used on today's paintball guns: screw in cartridges and refillable compressed gas tanks. In this article you will learn how to refill/replace both types of compressed gas cartridges so you can keep on playing!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Refill station
  • Extra screw in compressed gas cartridges

    Screw-in Compressed Gas Cartridge Systems

  1. Step 1

First, locate your compressed gas cartridge. In most paintball guns it is located in the stock or pistol grip.

  2. Step 2

Next, unscrew the cap holding the cartridge in the gun.

  3. Step 3

Remove the cartridge and replace it with a new one, making sure to orient the "puncturable" end of the cartridge toward the gun internals.

  4. Step 4

Screw in the cap to puncture the cartridge and create a gas tight seal.

  5. Refillable Compressed Gas Tanks

  6. Step 1

Unscrew the empty or nearly empty compressed gas cartridge from your gun. It is located either on the foregrip or stock of the gun.

  7. Step 2

In most cases, you will simply need to have a field technician refill your tank for you or take your tank to a compressed gas dealer who will fill it for you. But in the instance that you are at a field that allows you to refill yourself, you now need to locate the refill station.

  8. Step 3

Connect your empty tank to the refill line and open the bleed valve to clear the system.

  9. Step 4

Close the bleed valve and open the refill valve. Watch the guage on the refill line to see when the tank is full. When the tank is full close the refill valve.

  10. Step 5

Open the bleed valve one more time to clear the system and then unscrew your full tank. Screw the tank back onto the gun and you are set for hours of fun!

Tips & Warnings
  • Refilling paintball gun tanks is always better done by a professional to avoid bodily harm and damage to equipment. Proceed with caution!
