Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Windows XP operating system
  • Internet fax account
  • Microsoft Outlook 2007
  • Microsoft Word 2007
  1. Step 1

Sign up for an Internet fax account with one of the various providers. Some of the most popular Internet fax services are eFax, MyFax, RapidFax and SmartFax. Pick the best one that suits your needs. Most of the time these fax providers will also allow you to test out their services during a time period. This allows you to find out if you’re satisfied with the way they work.

  2. Step 2

Send a fax from your Windows XP computer system in a number of ways. You can either open a brand new browser window or use the downloaded fax application provided by your fax provider. If you have Microsoft Office 2007 installed on your computer, you can even send faxes directly from the included applications.

  3. Step 3

Download the fax application that your provider has given you access to. For example, eFax has a program called the “eFax Messenger.” From this one application, you can compose a new fax, view existing ones and even check your account information. Sending an important fax from your Windows XP computer can be done within a few short steps.

  4. Step 4

Use Microsoft Word 2007 to send a fax directly to an associate. Create a new document and type the information directly into it. You can even add images or graphs when necessary. After you have included all of the vital information, click the round Microsoft Office icon in the upper left corner of the application. A list of file options will appear in a dropdown list for you to choose from.

  5. Step 5

Click the “Send To” link to see the available choices. Select the “Internet Fax” link to send a fax from your Windows XP computer system using the Internet. Within a few minutes, your Word document will be converted into an attachment format to be sent as a fax. Another pop-up window will appear that has space for you to enter a recipient’s fax number, a personalized message, and a few other details. When you’ve finished adding information, click the “Send” button in the upper left corner of the fax cover page. Your fax will be sent to its recipient.

  6. Step 6

Open a brand new browser window on your Windows XP computer system to send a fax. Log into your Internet fax account and choose the option to compose a new fax. Attach important files, create a custom message, and then send the fax to an important recipient. Within a matter of minutes, the intended party will receive your faxed information.
