How to Delete a Slide in PowerPoint

Microsoft PowerPoint provides a dynamic tool to quickly create quality presentations for sharing information. When preparing a slide show in PowerPoint, there are times that a specific slide needs to be deleted. By following these easy steps, a user can quickly delete a slide using the Outline/Slides task pane without unnecessary steps.

  • Select the Outline/Slides task pane by clicking "View" on the standard tool bar and "Normal" from the drop-down menu of options.

  • Select the slide to delete from the Outline/Slides task pane (found on the left side of your screen) by clicking on the slide with your mouse. Once selected, a black box will outline the designated slide.

  • To delete more than one slide, hold down the CTRL button and click each slide with the mouse.

  • Press the Delete button on a standard keyboard. The slide is now deleted from your presentation.

  • Remember to save after deleting the slide.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can also delete by using "Edit" on the standard tool bar and selecting "Delete Slide" or right clicking the mouse and choosing "Delete Slide."
