How to Behave When Using a Forum
Forums are not only a good way to make new friends, but it’s also a way to gain information that you may otherwise not be able to obtain. They’re prevalent all over the Internet and more continue to pop up every day. Since this may be strange territory for many people, here are some tips on how to behave on the forums, so that you can make the most of your experience.

1
Never post private information about someone else, such as an address or phone number. This will most certainly get you permanently blocked from the website. Whether or not the person is a member of the same forum, it is never acceptable to post private information.
-
2
Don’t post in all capital letters. This can be incredibly irritating when trying to read the information in the post. Typing in capital letters is also considered yelling, so someone else reading it will think that you are screaming or angry.

3
Don’t spew insults. Even if you are angry at another poster, it’s never OK to publicly insult someone else. Leave the name-calling and verbal abuse off the forum and it will be a much better experience for everyone that reads and participates.
-
4
Post your question or comment once and only once. There’s no reason to put it all over the forum. This can be incredibly annoying for those trying to read through all of the information.
-
5
Avoid changing the subject of the thread. It’srude to change the subject from what the original post asked or stated. If you have something to say that is irrelevant to the subject at hand, post your own thread elsewhere.
-
6
Have conversations with someone via a private message. No one wants to read the conversation that you and someone else are having back and forth. Instead of doing it on a public forum, have it where only you and the other person can see it.
-
7
Reply to someone’s thread with something worthwhile. There are many times you’ll see someone reply with “I agree!” or “Wow!” and that’s it. Not only does it take up space, but it’s a big frustration for those who subscribe to that particular thread when they click on the link to go to someone wrote only one or two words.
