Things You'll Need:
- Plain silver glass balls
- Scrap fabric of any kind (lace, velvet, flannel)
- Leftover Christmas wrapping paper and cards
- Egg shells
- Colored lacquer
- Glue
- Beads
-
Step 1
Attach bits of brightly colored ribbons or scraps of lace or velvet to plain colored glass balls. Glue fabric first to construction paper so that the fabric or other paper decorations will hold to the balls.
-
Step 2
Save egg shells. If you poke a tiny hole at either end with a thin pick or a needle and blow out the egg, you will have a whole egg shell to decorate. Lacquer in colors of your choice. Leave some shell in its original color. Light reflects through egg shell and creates its own show, especially contrasting with pearl lacquers.
-
Step 3
Attach beads or rhinestones to either glass balls or egg shells. Haunt bead shops and thrift stores for beads and old jewelry for promising results. To make it possible to hang Christmas ornaments on your tree, glue a small bead to the top of the ornament and run necklace wire or thin string through the bead.
-
Step 4
Make a collection for a particular year with a theme. Select a theme that has meaning for your family, perhaps of loved ones. Or choose a common (or uncommon) Christmas theme, such as the Nativity scene or Santa's reindeer.
