How to Insert Hyperlinks Using Microsoft Excel 2002
Excel 2002 allows you the ability to add hyperlinks to your workbooks. You are able to create links to other files, other web pages or even other areas of your worksheet. This is a great way to include other information without cluttering your document. Once you have created a hyperlink, users can click on the link to be directed to another location. This guide will instruct you on how to insert hyperlinks into your Excel documents.

Open your Excel 2002 program. Open the Excel worksheet that you will add the hyperlink to. Choose the cell inside of the worksheet that will be associated with the hyperlink.

Click on the menu bar and choose “Insert”, then “Hyperlink”. This opens the “Insert Hyperlink” dialog box.

Choose the button on the left that corresponds to the type of link that you wish to create. There are four options. 1. Existing file or web page- This option is the fastest way to create a link. It creates a link to a file on your hard drive or on a page on the Web. 2. Place in this document- This option creates a link to a different location in the workbook that you are currently working on. You can use this option to move between worksheets. 3. Create new document- This option allows you to open a new document inside of the current worksheet. 4. Email address- This option allows you to create a hyperlink that automatically sends an e-mail to whomever you choose.

Click “OK” when you have chosen the type of hyperlink that you want. The dialog box closes. The text in the cell that you chose should be underlined to indicate that it is a hyperlink.

Click on the hyperlink and verify that is it properly forwarded.

The “Insert Hyperlink” command may be grayed out if your Excel workbook is shared.
