Pedicures are relaxing, and they keep feet looking and feeling smooth. While getting a pedicure at a salon is a wonderful way to pamper yourself, it can get quite costly if you are getting them done frequently. Since many individuals don’t want to sacrifice their own personal grooming, they do regular self-pedicures at home. With about an hour and the right products, a salon-quality pedicure can be done at home for a fraction of the cost.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Remove old nail polish, the first step in any pedicure. Soak a cotton ball in nail polish remover and carefully remove the nail polish from your toes. If you are wearing a light color, nail polish removal will be easy. However, if you have dark nail polish, expect to spend a few minutes removing it.

  2. Step 2

Trim your nails. Use your nail clippers to carefully trim your toenails. Be careful to not cut your nails too short, or it will be painful. Once your toenails are cut, use a nail file to smooth out any sharp edges and shape your nails.

  3. Step 3

Apply cuticle oil. Make sure you apply a generous amount. Rub the cuticle oil into your cuticles and allow the oil to absorb for a couple of minutes.

  4. Step 4

Soak your feet. Fill a bucket or plastic container with warm water. Add about 2 scoops of Epsom salt and 1 scoop of your favorite foot bath. Make sure the water is warm but not too hot. Allow your feet to soak for about 10 minutes.

  5. Step 5

Exfoliate your feet. Once your feet have finished soaking, use a pumice stone to soften the soles and heels of your feet. Carefully, remove your cuticles with a cuticle trimmer or push them back using a metal nail file. Once you are finished, dry your feet with a towel. Follow up with your favorite moisturizer.

  6. Step 6

Apply nail polish. Apply a base coat to your toenails and allow it to dry for approximately 5 minutes. Follow up with 2 coats of your favorite nail polish. Allow your nail polish to dry for about 10 minutes. Finish your manicure by applying a top coat. Remember to allow the polish to dry for an additional 20 minutes.

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep your pedicure looking new by applying a fresh coat of the top coat throughout the week.
