Make Steaks

If you're craving a tender, juicy steak, but have been wondering how to make steaks taste as good as they do at your favorite steakhouse, then you've come to the right place! This article will show you how to make steaks taste just as good as the ones you get at the steakhouse.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 4 steaks, at least 1 inch thick
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Kosher or sea salt
  • Pepper to taste
  1. Step 1

Unwrap your steaks and put them on a plate. Sprinkle generously with garlic powder, pepper and kosher or sea salt on one side, about 1/2 teaspoon per steak. It sounds like a lot, but don't worry... later we're going to rinse the excess off. For now, just make sure that the steaks are well saturated with kosher or sea salt.

If the steaks are at least 1 inch thick, set your timer for 10 minutes and let the steaks rest. If your steaks are less than 1 inch thick, set the timer for 5 minutes. Also, if your steak is heavily marbled, cut back on the timing a bit.

  2. Step 2

By the time your timer goes off, your steaks should have absorbed some of the salt, becoming a lot more tender and juicy in the process.

Rinse the steaks with water, making sure all remaining salt is washed off. Return the steaks to the plate and pat both sides dry with paper towels.

  3. Step 3

At this point you can cook the steaks however you wish. They are great grilled, broiled or pan fried.

I like to grill mine in a tiny bit of olive oil and sprinkle with more garlic powder and pepper. Always turns out super tender and juicy with so much flavor!

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't use table salt! It is much finer than kosher or sea salt and the meat will absorb it too quickly for this method to work.
