How to Make Great Pit Barbecue Sauce

This is a great barbecue sauce recipe to start with. It makes 2 quarts of barbecue sauce and is easy to make. It is great on chicken, steaks, pork roasts and ribs.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1/2 lb of butter
  • 1 pt catsup
  • 1 pt vinegar
  • 1 T. tabasco sauce
  • 1 small bottle Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 T. brown sugar
  • 1 T. of onion juice
  • 1 1/2 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
  • dash red pepper
  • dash black pepper
  • 1 T of salt
  1. Step 1

    Add all ingredients in a large pot.

  2. Step 2

    Bring to a boil. Turn down and simmer for 30 minutes

  3. Step 3

    Use on as you would BBQ sauce. Great on chicken, ribs, and pork. Refrigerate leftover sauce.

Tips & Warnings
  • honey may be substituted for sugar
  • juice of one lemon (3 Tablespoons of lemon juice) can be added for tang.
  • add more sugar for a sweeter barbecue sauce or,
  • more vinegar for a tangier barbecue sauce
