Things You'll Need:
- a kid or a few
- a lunch box/bag
- food
- a creative mind
-
Step 1
Think Green.
Pack your child's lunch in a re-usable container. I prefer a hard plastic lunch box. They're easy to clean and seem to last.
Send their food in washable cups, containers, bottles, etc. Use heavy-duty plastic untencils and have them bring them back home so you can wash them daily. If they lose one (or a few) it's not a big deal since they're plastic.
Reusable plastic containers are better for the environment and also better for your budget. Pouring your own juice, applesauce, pudding, etc. into each container is so much cheaper than buying the individual-sized portions at the store. -
Step 2
Cookie Cutters
Perk your child up at lunchtime by surprising him/her with a unique sandwich. Make their sandwich and then use some cookie cutters and press them into the sandwich. They'll have fun-shaped finger sandwiches which they surely won't want to share! Think candy cane shapes for Christmas, egg shapes for Easter, etc. -
Step 3
Feedback
Ask you child what he/she thinks about their lunch. What do they like/dislike. Make sure you pack items they like because spending money on items that end in the trash are a waste. -
Step 4
A Note
Tuck a cute/funny note in with your child's lunch to brighten their day! It's bound to make them smile, put them in a cheery mood and it takes just a minute or two to do.
