If you are a person who snores or you share a room with someone who snores, you know how disturbing it is to your sleep. Snoring can affect your quality of sleep and can cause strain on a relationship. Try these suggestions to prevent snoring.

    When you are sleeping, your muscles relax and restrict the air that travels through the airways. The air has to struggle to come out, causing the tissues at the back of your throat to make a snoring sound. To prevent snoring, avoid sleeping on your back. Try sleeping on your side instead.

  2. Step 2

    If you are overweight this can cause you to snore. Do regular exercise each day. Spend at least 30 minutes each day to get your exercise done. Change your eating habits to a more healthier one.

  3. Step 3

    Purchase special pillows that can help to prevent snoring. Try different types of pillows until you find one that works best for you. It is best to sleep with your head slightly elevated.

  4. Step 4

    If your suffer from allergies, this can affect the way you breathe at nights when you are sleeping. Use allergy relief medication to help reduce snoring.

  5. Step 5

    Drinking alcohol beverages can also cause you to snore. Avoid drinking alcohol before going to sleep. The alcohol causes your muscles to become more relaxed than usual and increase snoring.
