Joining Music CD Clubs

Purchasing individual CDs can get very expensive in a hurry. Why not join a CD club instead? Doing so allows you to buy a set amount of CDs for one low price. After this purchase, you then save money on both new and classic albums when you buy these CDs from the club. This is perfect for the person who buys albums more than once a month either for personal use or to give as gifts during the year.

Instructions

Join the BMG Music Service. With BMG, you buy one CD at the list price. You then get to pick 11 other CDs free of charge. You can cancel your membership anytime after your first purchase, making this an excellent deal.

Use Your Music to receive a CD once a month for $6.99. Add CDs to your queue whenever you wish. The CD at the top of your queue will be shipped to you at the beginning of each month. Each month, your credit card, debit card or Paypal account will be charged $6.99. You will also have the option of purchasing other CDs at your leisure, all for the low price of $6.99.

Subscribe to Rhapsody To Go. Instead of receiving physical CDs, Rhapsody gives you the opportunity to download audio files directly to your computer. For $15.00 a month, you can download songs for 99 cents each or download the entire CD for only $9.99.

Join Napster. Much like Rhapsody, Napster allows you to download single mp3 files or entire albums for one low price. There is a monthly fee as well. How much you pay per month will depend on which plan you choose.

Tips & Warnings

  • Unfortunately, the emergence of digital music has all but killed the mail-order CD clubs. Other than BMG and Your Music, your best bet is to subscribe to services such as Napster, Rhapsody and Yahoo Music.

Pretty good advice. I have been a member of BMG for years and it's pretty cool. Sometimes they even have really special releases that are only available to club members! ;)
