Step 1
DO YOUR RESEARCH
The hottest selling cookbooks on eBay are not always what you think. Spend some time searching completed auctions to see what cookbooks are popular and bring in the most money.
For instance you may be surprised to learn that the Betty Crocker cookbook with the red pie cover does surprisingly well on eBay. And the spiral-bound church and community cookbooks, which can often be found for next to nothing, sell well in sets or lots. -
Step 2
BUILD YOUR INVENTORY
Search garage sales, estate sales, library sales, and thrift stores to find inexpensive cookbooks. Almost ever sale and thrift store is going to have at least a few cookbooks. Because you've done your research, you'll know which ones to pick up and which ones to avoid. -
Step 3
LIST YOUR COOKBOOKS ON EBAY
Take good pictures and write good descriptions of your books. List them for at least a seven day auction, preferably ending on a Sunday. List valuable books individually and less valuable books in sets or lots. -
Step 4
COMPLETE THE SALE
Package the cookbooks securely and ship promptly to protect your eBay rating. Take advantage of the US Postal Service's media mail for inexpensive shipping, but make sure to disclose that in the auction description and give the buyer the option to upgrade to (and pay for) faster shipping.
