Thinking about getting a pet? Want to adopt? Here are some easy ways to find a great pet through adoption.

1. Buy everything the animal will need.
   Before you buy a pet, you always want to make sure you get a bunch of toys and different things to make them feel more at home, and for you to be prepared to train them.

2. Petsmart.
   Petsmart is a great place to adopt a cat or a dog. Adoptions are held every weekend. The animals are up to date on all their shots and they don't cost that much even if they are a normally expensive breed.

3. Check the web.
   There are many sites that will give you information and pictures of pets to adopt in your area. We adopted Boots after we saw her picture and read her description online, and she has been the center of attention ever since.

4. Make sure it's the right pet for you.
   Before you adopt, you want to spend a little time getting to know the people you're adopting from and the background of the pet. More than likely half the pets you see have been abused and rescued. Keep in mind what you are really looking for.

• Don't rush into it. If you keep looking, you'll find the perfect pet for you.
• Don't buy food for the pet until after you adopt, their likely to be used to a different brand.
• Changing a kittens normal food right away can cause stomache problems.
