Step 1
COLOR PICTURES WITH YOUR CHILD.
Coloring is a fun and relaxing activity that children and parents both enjoy. While coloring, make a point to talk about the color of crayon you are using as you color. Your child will begin to say what color he is using too. -
Step 2
READ COLOR AND SHAPE BOOKS AT BEDTIME.
Add some color/shape books to your bedtime reading list. Kids really to begin to grasp colors through books. Talk about the colors and items shown in the pictures, and ask him to name them. -
Step 3
SORT ITEMS.
Sort items by color. Some good color-sorting items are socks, mittens, candies (m&ms, skittles), crayons, toys. Use baskets for sorting larger items and muffin tins for smaller ones. -
Step 4
MAKE A COLOR BOOK.
Staple several pieces of paper together to make a blank book. Have your child glue different colored items on each page. For example, write "yellow" on a page in yellow marker, and put a yellow piece of yarn, yellow star sticker, draw a picture of a yellow sun. After you've made your book, read it at bedtime together.
