make beef stew

Beef Stew is a classic and this is a great recipe and what's so great about it is how good it tastes and how simple it is to make.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • stew meat
  • 2 lg cans of tomato sauce
  • potatoes about 1 per person
  • lg onion cut in half and sliced
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 3 carrots
  • handful of cilantro
  • Sm box frozen peas or drained and rinsed canned peas
  1. Step 1

First you get a lg pot coated with oil on med high heat add your stew meat that you sprinkled with salt and pepper and let brown while browning salt and pepper the other side.

  2. Step 2

Remove the meat to a bowl and brown up the rest if you need to. Remember not to over crowd your pot with the meat all at once it will steam instead of brown. Remove the meat from the pot .

  3. Step 3

In the same pot add your sliced onion and 3 chopped garlic cloves season to taste with salt and pepper let it caramalize and scrape up the bits from the bottom of the pot that has a lot of flavor in it.

  4. Step 4

Then add all of the meat back to the pot with all the juice from the meat add the cut up carrots and the potato quarters and your sauce with a quarter cup of water. Add cilantro after the first hour.

  5. Step 5

Add the peas when your meat is tender.

  6. Step 6

Let it simmer on low for at least 3 hours the meat will be tnder and the potatoes and carrots will be done as well.

  7. Step 7

You will need to stir the stew every 15 - 20 minutes .
And if needed add a half a cup of water as needed.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you have a large family and you need to make it with more meat follow the same steps just add another can of tomato sause some extra carrots and potatoes as well. I also love to add a large handful of cilantro . It makes such a wonderful taste. And cook your meat until it is tender and can be cut with a fork. No matter how long it takes you should give yourself 4 hours in all.
  • This receipe can be made in advance and heated through the next day or so.
