Make Carrot Kinpira

I have been experimenting with bentos a lot lately and have found that this little side dish goes perfect alongside a heartier main dish. I also just really love carrots. Super-simple and super-yummy.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 1/2 cups carrots cut into matchstick-size pieces (do it yourself or go buy a bag of pre-matchsticked carrots in the produce section of your grocery store. No need to worry about the exact measuremen
  • 1 T dark sesame oil
  • pinch of red pepper flakes
  • 1 T soy sauce
  • 1 t sesame seeds
  1. Step 1

Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and once hot enough, pour on the sesame oil.

  2. Step 2

Add the carrots and toss around until they become tender but still crisp. This takes around 3-4 minutes.

  3. Step 3

Add the red pepper flakes and toss well.

  4. Step 4

Add the soy sauce and toss again.

  5. Step 5

Add the sesame seeds towards the end and give one last good toss.

  6. Step 6

Not the best thing to eat hot, but is perfect at room temperature, which makes it a good option to put in packed lunches. Refrigerate until ready to eat.

Tips & Warnings
  • The soy flavor is very delicate in this dish
