Puppy chow

Puppy chow is a Chex cereal based dessert snack that the whole family will enjoy. Warning: Your bag of chow will be emptied very quickly. Second warning: Do not feed actual puppies.

Below is a puppy chow recipe.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 box Chex cereal (or similar cereal)
  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 sticks butter or margarine
  • 1 and a half pounds powdered sugar
  • Large Ziploc bag
  1. Step 1

On the stove top, melt the butter, chocolate chips and peanut butter over low heat. OR...Melt the ingredients in a safe bowl in the microwave. Mix thoroughly.

  2. Step 2

Place the cereal in a large mixing bowl. Slowly pour the melted mixture over top the cereal, turning gently as you go. Make sure the cereal ends up coated and cools.

  3. Step 3

Pour the powdered sugar in a large Ziploc bag. Add the coated cereal. Zip up the bag and shake until a fine layer of powdered sugar sticks to the chocolate and peanut butter concoction. Enjoy your puppy chow!

Tips & Warnings
  • For added flavor, mix the cereal with ingredients like raisins, broken-up pretzel sticks, peanuts or cashews before pouring the chocolate on top of it.
