      METHOD ONE

So those plaid Converse are $67 regular price and the sale is for 33% off. How much is the discount and how much will you pay?

On a calculator multiply 67X.33 [33%] which equals a $22.11 discount. Subtract $22.11 from $67 and you discover that you will pay $44.89 for those awesome shoes.

      METHOD TWO

So you were in charge of the United Way campaign this year and you want to figure out what percentage of your employees contributed. 256 of 431 of the employees participated.

      On a calculator divide 256 by 431 which equals .5939 or 59.39%.
