Make Candied Walnuts

I love making my own candied walnuts, they always turn out much better than store-bought candied nuts. You can eat these as a snack, or add them to other recipes. These are great on salad with some crumbled blue cheese and a nice vinaigrette. This recipe also works great with pecans.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 heaping cup of walnuts
  1. Step 1

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

  2. Step 2

In a colander, rinse the walnuts and let them drain a bit. You want the outside moist but not soaking.

  3. Step 3

In a medium sized bowl, mix together the sugar, cayenne, cinnamon, and salt. Add the walnuts and toss to coat. Alternatively, you can put everything in a plastic bag and shake it up to coat.

  4. Step 4

Transfer the walnuts to a baking sheet or pan and bake, stirring occasionally, until they are a deep golden brown, about 10 minutes. Watch carefully because the sugar can burn easily. Let cool completely before serving.
