Things You'll Need:
- Internet
-
Step 1
Know that blogs are websites created by both individuals, non-profit organizations, and businesses that display content in a journal or diary setting. The content is organized and archived by when it was posted online, and typically has a personal style or mood to its material as opposed to other information-intensive sources.
-
Step 2
Understand that the word "blog" came about from combining the terms Web (b) and log. However, the term has evolved to taken on many meanings referring to a blog. For example, to blog means to post, blogging is the act of posting, and a blogger is someone who blogs. Confusing, I know.

Step 3
Realize that blogs continue to develop and more people get involved in them, subcultures of blogs have been created. These include vlogs, which are video logs and almost always involve some form of web video. Then there are photoblogs, which photographers can use to display their pieces and explain them briefly.
-
Step 4
Know most of all that blogs are used to connect with people. That is why they have become so popular. Humans, by nature, love interaction and blogging is the ultimate tool to accomplish this on the World Wide Web. No person has the same views, which makes reading a blog on any topic at least mildly interesting.

Step 5
Understand that blogging has become a profitable means for some users. One man named John Chow now blogs and makes over $30,000 a month from all sorts of online advertising including banner rotations, affiliate marketing, and text links. He, of course, blogs about how he makes money blogging!
