Step 1
1. In order to qualify for this benefit program, you must be a resident of the State of Louisiana.
2. You must be elderly, disabled, have families with children, and/or have the highest energy consumption.
3. You must meet the income requirements:
**Your household's annual income before taxes must not exceed $17,455 if one person lives in the household; $22,826 if two people live in the household; $28,196 if three people live in the household; $33,567 if four people live in the household; $38,938 if five people live in the household; or $44,308 if six people live in the household. -
Step 2
1. Fill out the LIHEAP application. Below you will find a website that has the application. Print out the application, fill in all required information and mail it back to the address listed on the application.
2. Wait. Within about a week someone from the LIHEAP office will contact you and let you know if you qualify and what steps to take after that. -
