Finding a pair of jeans that fit like a dream? That's tops on every woman's things-to-do list. It can literally take years to find your perfect pair. Here are some tips to find those dream jeans a little quicker.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Determine what your body type is: curvy or slim. Ask yourself what your challenging areas are: wide waist, thin legs, booty for days! Pinpoint your exact challenges when buying jeans and write that down.

  2. Step 2

Many clothing lines have introduced specific lines for certain body types. For example Gap, Ann Taylor Loft and Old Navy have jeans labeled "curvy", "petite", "tall", "slim" and "boy cut". This takes a lot of the guesswork away.

  3. Step 3

Your ideal jeans may be at different price points. Don't rule out expensive brands or cheaper ones. My favorites come at different prices: Levi's 515 are amazing, especially for the curves, Express Editor Jeans, A.N.A. jeans from JCPenny and Joe's Jeans.

  4. Step 4

Try on a wide range of jeans. Don't rule out certain cuts and styles. Only then can you see what really looks good on you!

  5. Step 5

Stick to dark denim. Dark denim can be dressed up AND down! It is flattering and hides a multitude of flaws!

  6. Step 6

Tailoring helps. If the jeans gape in the back, a tailor can fix that in one stitch!

Tips & Warnings
  • Pockets with flaps help add junk to your trunk
  • If you have enough junk, steer clear of pockets
  • Distressed jeans are not a good choice
  • I have a love/hate relationship with capri jeans. They look good ONLY with ballet flats or heels. No sneakers or flip flops!
  • Buy jeans with stretch
