keep your pet dog happy

Owning a pet dog isn't hard, but some people may be new at it and lack the experience. There are many ways to keep your pet happy and give them a fulfilling life. Here are some guidelines.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Never treat your pet dog like an inferior object. Treat your pet as a family member and always value the importance of them. Give them special attention just like you would any other member of the family and never ignore them.

  2. Step 2

Talk to your dog. Dogs love to be talked to. Just because they are animals don't mean that they won't understand you. When talking to them, talk in a higher voice too. Dogs love it.

  3. Step 3

Give them plenty of toys/bones to play with around the house. Dogs get bored just like anyone else. Give them something to play with while you're away.

  4. Step 4

Get down on the floor and play with them one on one! If you're able, do this! Dogs always love playing with their masters.

  5. Step 5

Take them on walks. Let them explore your town and get to know it as their huge backyard. Dogs shouldn't be cooped up in the house all the time.

  6. Step 6

Give them a treat here and there. Whether it be a healthy table scrap or a treat from their treat bag, let them know you care by giving them one.

  7. Step 7

Car rides!!!! Dogs love car rides more than anything. Put them in the car with you and crack the window. They will never get enough of this!

  8. Step 8

Most importantly, give them tons of time to be pet. Dogs need affection like crazy and petting them is the best way to show it.

on 10/12/2008 Nice article! I like the "dogs get bored" reminder. Maybe getting second dog to play with your dog so he has a pal would be great too?:)
