Things You'll Need:
- High quality puppy food such as Science Diet Small Bites
- Puppy milk or other high quality milk
- Blender
- Cookie Sheet
-
Step 1
The first step you need to do is to measure out puppy food. For the average size litter of medium sized puppies, start out with one cup of food.
-
Step 2
Place the puppy food into a blender.
-
Step 3
Add a cup of puppy milk into the blender.
-
Step 4
Allow the puppy food and milk to sit in the blender for a minute or so to allow the food to become a bit mushy for better blending.
-
Step 5
Thoroughly blend the puppy food/milk mixture. For first time feedings, make sure there are no chunks and gradually increase the chunkiness as the puppies get older until they are eating dry food. This may take a couple of months before they are eating only dry food.
-
Step 6
Using a spatula, spread out the puppy mush onto the cookie sheet.
-
Step 7
Place food on the ground and let the puppies smell it. At first, the feedings will most likely be an unsucessful mess. This is normal, they will fall in it and make a huge mess.
-
Step 8
After 30 minutes, remove and clean everything including the puppies and give them back to their mother. The mother may finish any left over food if she desires so.
-
Step 9
Start doing this once or twice a day and gradually increase the feedings to several times a day.
