How to Send Free Text Messages from Your Computer

It can be expensive and time consuming to send text messages to a friend's cell phone. Here's how to send free text messages from your computer.

Things You'll Need

• computer with internet access
• cell phone numbers of friends
• name of your friend's cell phone carrier

Instructions

1. Log in to your computer's email program.

2. Type your friend's cell phone number into the "to" box in the email header

3. Type the @ symbol after the phone number

4. Add the text address for your friend's cell phone carrier after the cell number and @ symbol. Here are the text addresses for the most commonly used cell phone carriers:

   Verizon= number @vtext.com
   AT&T= number @txt.att.net
   T-Mobile= number @tmomail.net
   Sprint= number @messaging.sprintpcs.com

5. Type your message and hit send. Your friend will recieve your email as a text message.

6. There is no charge for you to send text messages from your computer- and you can type much faster than regular texting!
