Thanksgiving is a wonderful holiday to share with your children. One of the best traditions to start with your children for Thanksgiving is to send out Thanksgiving Day cards. There are two options for Thanksgiving cards. You can go out and spend a lot of money buying them in the store. Or, you can save money and create a great memory by making a Thanksgiving card with your children. All it takes is a little fun and a lot of smile to make Thanksgiving cards with your children.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Set up a special work area for you and your children to do your Thanksgiving craft at the dining room table. Tape down a layer of paper on your dining room table to protect it. When you are doing any craft project with your children, it is best to set out all the supplies on a large work area before you get started. This goes for making a Thanksgiving card as well.

  2. Step 2

Place all of your supplies on the work area for this Thanksgiving craft. You will need a large pack of multi colored construction paper, a pair of safety scissors, one pencil, a pack of different colored markers, and non-toxic glue. These are the basic supplies to make a Thanksgiving card with you children. Other supplies that you may want to have on hand are glitter and ribbon to make your card even more special.

  3. Step 3

Take out a piece of cream colored construction paper and place it flat in front of your child. Have your child place her hand flat on the construction paper and trace around her hand on the cream paper to start your Thanksgiving card. Now the next part of this step depends on the age of your child. If your child is older, you can have her cut out her traced hand from the paper. For younger children, allow them to watch you cut out there hand print on the paper to make the Thanksgiving card.

  4. Step 4

The hand print that you cut out will be the turkey image for the front of your Thanksgiving card. Let your child draw and color on the turkey to make it special. Her thumb will act like the head of the turkey so that is where you will want to place the eyes. Your child's finger will be the different colored feathers. Help your child to color the feathers in with all the great colors of Thanksgiving.

  5. Step 5

Paste the cut out Thanksgiving turkey on to a sheet of orange construction paper folded in half. Your child can draw in some grass under the feet of the turkey. On the inside of the Thanksgiving card, you will want to write a heart felt message to the person that will be receiving this special card.
