This article will show you how to keep your Hard Drives in top shape by running a utility that is automatically installed on your PC!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  • Windows XP
  • Patience
  1. Step 1

    Click on your "Start" button, then click on "My Computer". This will bring up the "My Computer" window.

  2. Step 2

    Under the "Hard Drives" section right click on the drive you wish to Defragment (Most likely your (C:) drive) and select "Properties".

  3. Step 3

    In the "Properties" window click on the "Tools" tab and under "Defragmentation" click on "Defragment now...".

  4. Step 4

    In the "Disk Defragmenter" window click on "Defragment" and it will start the process.

Tips & Warnings
  • Your drive gets fragmented any time you install/uninstall things on your PC.
  • If your Hard Drive is fragmented, you will notice a large speed increase after this process is completed.
  • Just my regular warning here: I am not responsible for any damage you cause to your computer.
