Learn to roast pumpkin seeds for a delicious snack.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 cups of pumpkin seeds
  • 2 Tbs Canola oil
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • roasting pan
  • bowl
  1. Step 1

First gather all your supplies and clear an area to work. Cut the top of the pumpkin and scoop out the seeds with your spoon. Place the seeds in a bowl and wash them in water.

  2. Step 2

Let the seeds dry on paper towels. After they are completely dry, toss the seeds with canola oil and salt and spread them out evenly in roasting pan. Bake in oven at 250° for about 1 hour or until seeds are dry, stirring occasionally.

  3. Step 3

Remove from oven and allow seeds to cool. Now it is time to enjoy your snack.

Tips & Warnings
  • Olive oil may also be used.
  • Use less salt if necessary.
  • Make sure the seeds are completely dry before beginning.
  • Separate seeds from the stringy inners while scooping.
  • Be prepared to buy more pumpkins after trying this delicious snack.

on 12/4/2008 Awww, you have to at least try 3 times before you give them up. I hope the Olive Oil works better for you! Thanks for commenting and good luck with your pumpkin seeds.

on 12/4/2008 I only tried to roast pumpkin seeds once ... and I burned them beyond recognition. I like your suggestion to try Olive Oil. Maybe I'll give roasted pumpkin seeds another try.
