If you are going on vacation or expect to not be able to check your email for an extended period of time, it is a good idea to set up a vacation responder in your gmail account.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Gmail Account
  1. Step 1

    Go to the Settings menu item located at the top right hand side of your Gmail account.

  2. Step 2

    Locate the Vacation Responder section about 2/3rds of the way down the page.

  3. Step 3

    Choose Vacation Responder On.

  4. Step 4

    Add the subject that you want your email contacts to see.

  5. Step 5

    Add a message that you want your email recipients to see when they send you an email.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can set up the vacation responder notification to go to only people in your contacts list.
  • The automated vacation response email will not go to email messages classified as SPAM or on any emails sent at to a mailing list.
  • Be sure to turn off your vacation automated response when you return from vacation by clicking on the Vacation Responder Off button in the Gmail Vacation Responder box. Alternately, you can turn off the automated vacation responder by clicking on the "End Now" that is inside the banner displayed at your gmail.com.
