This article will show you how to configure Automatic Updates in Windows XP to keep your PC up to date. There are a lot of vulnerabilities found in an Operating System on a daily basis, and it is good to know that you are protected.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  • Windows XP
  • Patience
  1. Step 1

    Click on your "Start" button, right click on "My Computer" and click on "Properties".

    This will bring up a window titled "System Properties".

  2. Step 2

    In the "System Properties" window, go to the "Automatic Updates" Tab.
    Select "Automatic".

    Now use the first drop down box to pick what day you want Automatic Updates to run.

    Now use the second drop down box to pick what time you want Automatic Updates to run.

    Finally click on "Apply" and then on "OK".
    You are done!

Tips & Warnings
  • Your PC needs to be on for Automatic Updates to run. So schedule them for a time when your PC is on, but you are not on it.
