Clearing your home of excess clutter does not have to be painful. Selling unwanted household linens, clothes, furniture, and cars on craigslist.org takes less effort than a yard sale. Here are some quick tips to help you quickly put together a Craiglist ad.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Digital camera
  • tape measure or ruler
  • Eye for detail
  1. Step 1

Place all unwanted items in a single area. Then place each group of like items together.

  2. Step 2

Take pictures of each set of like items that may hold more value as a group. Next take pictures of items that you will be selling individually.

  3. Step 3

Create your ad like an EBay listing. Include the measurements of clothing items, linens, or furniture. Present clothing items in lots or complete outfits. Be as detailed as possible, and list all flaws.

  4. Step 4

If you are selling a car, truck, boat, or home try to do a short video. Most digital cameras allow for at least 90 seconds of recording time. Upload the video to www.youtube.com and include the link in your craiglist ad.

  5. Step 5

Include your phone number or let messages be sent to your email address to complete the transaction.

Tips & Warnings
  • If your item does not sell within one week. Study an eBay listing with similar items that has current bids. Change your price or retake pictures.
  • If you do not have time to meet several people at different times during the week instruct all buyers to meet you at your home at a certain time. Have relatives or friends there at that select time. Stagger the meet time, if you have multiple buyers. Have buyers meet you on your patio or front door area to complete their transactions.
  • Always take a friend or family member with you when conducting your transactions. Aim for a public place, preferably any location with other people where you will feel safe.
