Are you ready for cold weather? A great way to keep warm and save money is layering up when the temperature drops. Learn how to make double layer fleece blankets!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Two (2) yards of fleece
  • Another two (2) yards of fleece (you can make each of these different patterns)
  • Scissors
  • Open area to work on
  1. Step 1

Lay your first piece of fleece on your flat working surface with printed side down.

  2. Step 2

Lay your second piece of fleece on top of the first with printed side up.

  3. Step 3

Line up all four sides. With a sharp pair of scissors, cut any extra off.

  4. Step 4

Cut squares out of your four corners.

  5. Step 5

Cut 1" wide 3" deep strips along all four sides. Make sure you are cutting both pieces of fabric.

  6. Step 6

Tie each strip twice until you have tied all the strips. Use an overhand knot for your tie.

Tips & Warnings
  • Watch for coupons in your weekly paper to save money on your fabric purchase!
  • These blankets make great gifts for the holidays and wonderful baby gifts for a newborn!

on 11/27/2008 These are so warm and cozy. A youth group that my son belongs to did these for "The Gift of Giving" project. They made them as lap blankets and they were donated to elderly in a nursing home that had no family to bring them goodies. The kids were able to present them to each person. It was awesome! The recipients loved them.
