How to Throw a Half Birthday Party

Birthdays are huge for kids! But they change soooo much in a whole year that a small half-birthday celebration at the six-month mark is a great way to hold them over until the main event. Here is how keep with the "half" theme.

Things You'll Need

• Half a birthday cake
• 6 helium balloons
• Game (like darts)
• Six friends
• Half sandwiches and half pieces of fruit

Instructions

1. Start the party on the half hour (like 5:30 p.m.).

2. Order or make half a birthday cake. Make it obvious that it's half a cake--order a full sheet birthday cake and cut it in half (you can always freeze the other half).

3. Float six helium balloons over the celebration area.

4. Sing "Happy Half Birthday To You" when the cake comes out.
