Adding folder in outlook for organization.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

    Do you need to keep track of your emails but don’t want them all in your inbox?
    Let’s show you how to make new folders in outlook, under your inbox.

  2. Step 2

    1: Open Microsoft outlook. Once open go to the inbox section, if you open to outlook today, if you do not your inbox should already be up.

  3. Step 3
    Select New
    Select New

    2: Once open right click the new folder on the left, picture attached.

  4. Step 4
    Folder Name
    Folder Name

    3: Select new folder.

    There will be a new window that comes up asking you to give the folder a name and asking you where to locate it. If you want it to be a subfolder of your inbox, highlight the inbox in the menu and give the folder a name. Picture attached.

  5. Step 5

    Once complete click OK.
    Now look at your inbox, the folder now shows up on the left under the inbox.

  6. Step 6

    The next step for you to keep track of your email is to move the emails you want into that folder.

    If you do not want to always see the folder click the (minus) sign on the left of the word inbox, if you wish to see the folder click the (plus) sign on the left of the inbox.

  7. Step 7

    If you wish to add more folders, under the inbox as sub folders, follow the same above steps.

    If you wish to add subfolders underneath the new folders you just created, follow the same steps as above, except when making the new folder. In the new folder window, select the subfolder.

Tips & Warnings
  • Always Make BACKUPS
  • Left clicking that new folder will show you the emails you have saved there.
  • Name your folders something you will know/remember why they are there
  • BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP
