Things You'll Need:
- Vacuum
- Bathroom cleaning supplies
- Rubber gloves
- Candles
- Swifter duster
-
Step 1
If you need to clean your house quickly then the first thing that you need to do is look at everything. Clean only high traffic areas.
-
Step 2
Grab the laundry basket and pick up all the dirty clothes, this includes the socks that are hiding between the sofa cushions and all of the kids and dogs toys. Put everything in the basket and then hide the basket in a closet and close the door!
-
Step 3
Take out the vacuum and ask your husband to run it across the carpet and all of the hard surface floors.
-
Step 4
While your husband vacuums, you should use this time wisely and clean the bathroom. Be sure to put out the guest towels, add a floral arrangement and light a candle. Check the bathroom off your list.
-
Step 5
Dust only where needed. Cut your time dusting in half with a swifter duster. This is a great duster as it grabs and holds the dust. It also removes allergens from the air.
-
Step 6
Do not even look at the bedrooms; this is why there are doors, so just close them!
-
Step 7
Put the dishes in the dishwasher, wipe down the counter tops and sink. Open a drawer and stash the clutter.
-
Step 8
Turn on the lights, or open the drapes, everything looks better when the room is bright. Light a few candles. The cleaning is complete!

on 7/2/2009 Wonderful tips for doing a quick cleaning for guests. You got very wise to ask your husband of his plans during the morning. My husband also tends to put off providing any information until the very last moment!

on 2/18/2009 You make some good points...only pick up where you know the unexpected guests will roam! Gotta love the drawers and closets too! Just hope that you don't need anything form that space when the guests are over!
