Things You'll Need:
- computer
- internet access
- printer
-
Step 1
Consider using items you already have to make your own pumpkin stencils. Designs from coloring books, art work or even drawings you've made yourself can be copied and resized to create your own free pumpkin carving stencils. Be sure you are not breaking any copyright laws by doing this.
-
Step 2
Check your local library. There are many books out on pumpkin carving, some which contain patterns that you can use for free.
-
Step 3
Be on the lookout for free pumpkin stencils offered in advertisements. Companies that sell pumpkin carving tools, Halloween merchandise, pumpkins etc. may offer free patterns for promotional purposes.
-
Step 4
Find several free pumpkin stencils by using online search engines to look for them. Try searching "free pumpkin" along with different words such as "stencils", "patterns", "cutouts", "templates" etc.
You can also search for particular pumpkin stencils you want to find, such as "free pumpkin cat stencil", "free pumpkin witch pattern" and so on. -
Step 5
Try looking for web sites that are likely to offer free pumpkin stencils. Some examples of sites you might want to try include Halloween theme web sites, craft sites and children's web sites. Many sites that sell pumpkin stencils offer some free selections as well.
-
Step 6
Look for "how to" type web sites online. There are several web sites that offer instructions on how to do things, such as eHow.com. A quick search on these types of web sites will likely yield pumpkin carving tutorials and possibly free stencils that you can print out and use.
-
Step 7
Look for stencils that fit your skill level. Some designs are for beginners while others require advanced carving skills. You may want to include that in your search terms, for example "free pumpkin stencils for beginners" etc.
Most of the online patterns are in PDF format and are simple to print out. Others may require you to download the pattern and print from there.
Usually the online free pumpkin stencils are for personal use only, so be sure to read the terms and conditions before using for any commercial purpose. -
Step 8
See the resources below for examples of web sites that offer free pumpkin stencils. There are over 100 patterns to choose from just from these few examples. You can find many others.
